UPDATE

Well, we have finally managed to get some groups up and running:

Baroque Ensemble: a great turnout - four (!) flutes, three violins, two recorders, cello, harpsichord, baroque guitar, and three sopranos, one doubling mezzo. I get the feeling this is going to be an excellent ensemble.

Recorder Group: five of us, with two more to join in a couple of weeks time. All five pitch ranges are in use, from bass to sopranino. Three of us are complete beginners, with the remainder varying in experience. Looking forward to some good consort music.

Acoustic Music Group: I lost count - eight or nine participants, three singers, mandolin, guitars. It would be nice to have a bass and a fiddle as well. A great start. Blues and folk/country.

Traditional Music Group: eight participants, fiddles, guitars, keyboards, voices, percussion. The more the merrier. Traditional jigs and reels, with some songs.

So, a good week. We tried to get the Guitar Class for beginners and 'post beginners' off the ground, but it failed at the first hurdle - space and time were against us. I hope to have good news regarding space and time soon.

As ever, I'm impressed with the standard of the playing, the willingness to take part, and the courage of beginners to give it a go. Brilliant.
